I was just informed of one of the, if not THE most adorable stories I have personally ever heard of from the Walt Disney Company.

I was just talking with my roommate Matt who told me he met this wonderful little Cast Member named Ben.

Ben is an 8 year old boy who is a Cast Member at Walt Disney World Resort.

Ben has been a Monorail Pilot for the past 3 years now.

He is also currently very fascinated by sharks and tornados - so much that he has even been researching Tornado Alley because he wants to live there to study them further.

As peculiar as it sounds to have such a young Cast Member, you’ll see why exactly he has earned his role.

Ben is an average 8 year old boy who just happens to absolutely LOVES the monorail and knows exactly how to conduct and operate a safe and successful monorail excursion.

The story of how Ben came to be a Cast Member is just as great as his performance as a Monorail Pilot.

As stated previously - my roommate Matt actually met Ben and his incredibly supportive family. He found out just how Ben came to be an OFFICIAL Monorail Pilot:

3 years ago, Ben and his family (who live in Orlando) were staying at the Contemporary Resort here at Walt Disney World. They had the whole setup - 3 Day ParkHopper passes, Dining Plan, and pretty much every thing that a vacationing family needs for a fantastic vacation to Walt Disney World.

After they took the monorail into Magic Kingdom on their first day at the resort, Ben was absolutely fascinated by the PeopleMover (not the monorail, but the actual PeopleMover). After they got off the ride, Ben made the decision that ALL he wanted to do was ride the monorail. Riding the Monorail was literally the only activity he wanted to do. 
After riding it for a while, the Cast Members at Contemporary pulled him aside and made arrangements to get him a FULLY OFFICIAL monorail costume and nametag.
After he got his costume, Ben was given the royal treatment by siting in the Captain’s Chair and learning everything there is to know about the monorail.

Ben knows virtually everything that any monorail conductor/pilot needs to know, if not more. Ben will exit the monorail at every stop and assist guests on how to enter and exit the monorail, as well as give them directions around the park. He is easily among the most qualified and knowledgeable Cast Members to ever grace the monorail. EVERY Monorail Cast Member knows who he is and greets him accordingly.

Ever since then, Ben and his family come regularly to Magic Kingdom JUST so he can ride the monorail and perform his duties; they even pack their lunches so they can spend the day making sure Ben performs his monorail duties.

No one questions him or doubts his abilities - Ben IS the epitome of a Monorail Pilot.

This story has absolutely resonated with me because Disney has recognized this wonderful young man’s passion for one of the most recognizable items of Walt Disney World - the Monorail.
This is one of the most amazing stories of Disney magic that I have ever heard, and I hope that you recognize how just truly spectacular this story is.

So next time you ride the monorail into the Magic Kingdom and see Ben, be sure to give him your undivided and utmost attention - what this little guy lacks in size, he MORE than makes up for in knowledge, passion, and love for Walt Disney World.
